Me: “I’m a T-rex today!” <waves stub arms wildly> “RAARRRR!!”
The Brother: “…”
Me: “I’M A T-REX!! RARRRR!!!” <stub arms become more animated>
The Brother: “That’s nice.”
Me: “Aren’t you scared of me?”
The Brother: “Huh? Why?”
Me: “C-cause I’m a T-rex? Rarr?”
The Brother: “To tell you the truth…you’re kinda like this everyday.”
This recipe is full of the awesomesauce. And the applesauce! And if you put up, um, generous quantities of your own homemade applesauce like I did, you might be crying cursing Zeus questioning your ability to take care of yourself as an adult kinda glad that this recipe makes use of it. We had it on cobb salad, but I imagine it would also be nice in a warm potato salad, over baby spinach, or with some nice Xanax.
Garçon! Your finest vintage, please!
Applesauce Dressing
Makes about 1 cup
Go Get:
1/3 cup applesauce
1/4 cup grainy mustard
2 Tablespoons sunflower seed oil (or other mild oil)
2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar (this recipe makes a spoonable dressing, about as thick as a homemade Thousand Island. If you like thinner, drizzlier dressing, try whisking in an additional tablespoon or two of vinegar)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Go Do:
Stir all ingredients until thoroughly combined. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
